Since last 40 years, it has been producing the leaders for our beloved Navy. Foreign officer cadets started training in BNA in 1998. Besides, BNA as the pioneer in training female officer cadets, has ushered revolution in the Armed Forces. Being credited with the laurels of success and blessed with the wake of experience, devoted efforts and zeal of development, now BNA is well known as an International Academy.
We have a distinctive clarity of purpose, expressed in our mission. This aligns all the faculty members, staff and the under trainees in one symphony. The mission of BNA is, thereby:
"To prepare officer cadets for grant of commission as officers in Bangladesh Navy."
The mission of BNA is set to achieve some objectives. Basically, BNA has three fold focus points: command and leadership, training in professional subjects and training in academic subjects. Accordingly, the objectives of BNA are:
To develop qualities, personal standard and conduct required of a naval officer.
To provide broad foundation of professional knowledge to prepare cadets for next stage of training as midshipman.
To provide an academic background essential for higher professional and academic studies.
Bangladesh Navy fosters the pride of starting her journey with sacrifice. Echoing to that pride, BNA, as a home of BN officers, upholds the prestigious duty of cultivating future leaders. With this sacred task, BNA started its journey in 1976 within the premises of Mercantile Marine Academy situated on the other side of the river KARNAPHULI. The academy was shifted to naval base at Chittagong i.e. BNS ISSA KHAN in 1977. Finally, the academy was commissioned at its present site on 02 Jun 1988. Location wise, it stands near the harbour mouth and is hugged by unlimited natural beauties.
